We invite you to this first year's SUN Day, a family-friendly day in the park celebrating the power of the SUN's many contributions.
National Drive Electric Month joins the call to action to transition global energy to clean renewables.
Solar Energy from the SUN is now the least expensive Electricity.
Let's Electrify all energy use to plug into the SUN from residential, commercial, industrial, and transportation.
Powering Electric Vehicles with the Sun is driving on Sunshine.
** Starring, a Ford F-150 Lightening Electric pick-up truck charged up by the Sun from the owner's solar array that will power these:
- an e-bike will plug in to charge
- an induction cooktop will plug in to make tea
- other small appliances also will demo the bi-directional charging capacity that could power your home during grid outage
** Solar cooker demo, powered by the SUN
** EV display
- answering questions about EVs
- how to drive on SUNshine
- hand outs with EV info
** Stage will be powered by the SUN with a portable solar array
** Lots of fun, kid SUN activities
- mini windmills powered by mini solar panel or battery
- Sun prints, and more surprises
** Lots of other SUN related booths and activities all day
** Open Mic with kids priority
** 12:45 Our CA State Assembly Member Gail Pellerin will speak
** Mayor Fred Keeley will present a Sun Day Proclamation for City of Santa Cruz
** Ongoing music
** Plant-based treats & Pacific Cookie Company cookies while supply lasts
** Bring your blanket and a picnic to enjoy the park with us in the SUN, or in the shade of beautiful trees
