Event Report

Just weeks ago, our neighbors to the east and northeast were devastated by Hurricane Helene.  As Helene moved through Georgia with its exact path unclear, KEVA worked with Pellissippi State Community College and Drive Electric Tennessee to reschedule the Festival in the interest of safety.  Our hearts go out to those who were directly impacted.

The new date - October 12th - dawned bright and clear, with temperatures forecast to be in the mid 70s.  A perfect day for the 2024 Knoxville Drive Electric Festival.  The postponement led to a lot of uncertainty of how the response would be.  As it turned out, there was little reason to worry.  Although several owners were unable to be part of the new date, we still had over 100 EVs and 40 different models.  Our local dealerships provided tremendous support with EVs for the show and more for the Ride & Drive.  Ted Russell Ford again provided F-150 Lightning Pro Power for the music stage in addition to a wide variety of EVs, from Mach-e to eTransit.  Beaty Chevrolet, Cadillac of Knoxville, Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville, and Rice GMC collectively brought at least 8 different models of EVs including Silverado, Lyriq, Mercedes AMG EQE SUV, and Hummers.  Our members rounded out the Ride & Drive with Tesla Models 3, Y, and Cybertruck.  (Yes, Matthew even let people drive his Cybertruck!)  Show highlights included a Cybertruck wrapped in blue, an area with electric trucks pulling electrified campers, the Mercedes eSprinter and Ford eTransit, and a wide range of EVs from affordable to aspirational.

Live music was provided by local bands Tangled in Blues and Mighty Blue, with stage and sound support from Pellissippi State Community College and power from Ted Russell Ford's F-150 Lightning.  Three food trucks - Smith's Endzone BBQ, Irvey's Ice Cream, and Your Sugar Therapy - stepped in on short notice to keep the crowd from going hungry.

Our thanks go out to our volunteers, our Knoxville Electric Vehicle Association members, Drive Electric Tennessee, Pellissippi State Community College, and our sponsors for making this Festival possible.
