Event Report

This NDEW event took place before the official dates for NDEW. It was one of the main programs that took place at the Windsor (CT) Eco-Monarch Festival which was co-hosted by Windsor Climate Action and the Windsor Monarch Program. During the 4 hours of this NDEW event we had interactions from people from throughout CT and MA. The most unique EVs we had were a Rivian, 3 different brands of electric bicycles, and an electric riding lawn mower.

Event Description

The Eco-Monarch Festival is an Eco-friendly fair; focused on green initiatives like climate change action, gardening, waste reduction/recycling, environmentalism, and protection of the endangered monarch butterfly. This year 'First Town Downtown' is partnering with Windsor Climate Action to gather all our environment-friendly activities in one place so you can enjoy it all.

The Drive Electric Showcase is organized and hosted by the Global Environmental Sustainability Action Coalition and the Sustainability Program of the Central Connecticut State University Geography Department.

About Windsor Monarch Project:
This Windsor Eco-Monarch Project serves to preserve the health of the Monarch Butterfly through the implementation of 'raise and release programs,' planting habitats, and educating the public the vital importance the monarch plays in our environment.

About Windsor Climate Action:
Windsor Climate Action raises awareness of the effects of climate change and helps find solutions to mitigate the impact on the town of Windsor. Our group activities include: community outreach & education, working with speakers who are experts in their field to provide residents with accurate information about climate change, and joining with other organizations to promote practical solutions to town officials
to shift Windsor’s dependency off fossil fuels by the year 2033. .

About Global Environmental Action Coalition:

The Global Environmental Sustainability Action Coalition is a grassroots group of current and former CCSU students, administrators, and faculty, committed to providing cross-disciplinary information and solutions on how to live our lives in a way that is sustainable and in harmony with nature. Founded initially as the CCSU Climate Action Coalition in 2007, we have since expanded our scope to the larger issue of environmental sustainability. In 2008, we held our inaugural Global Sustainability and Climate Change Symposium in support of Focus the Nation. At this three day event, more than 1,000 people, including college faculty & students, K-12 school students and teachers, community members, non-governmental organizations, and federal and state governmental officials attended.
