New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) Employee Association (NMEA) and NMED Climate Change Bureau (CCB) are hosting an EV Lunch Event on 09/18/2025 for staff. It will be held at the Runnels/Montoya parking lot on 09/18/2025 between 12:00pm and 1:00pm. Attendees are advised to bring their own lunch; refreshments will be provided.

Personal EVs from staff will be on show for attendees to inspect and to talk about with owners. Owners will have been provided with a list of questions prior to the event, so they are aware of what attendees will be asking to complete their questionnaires for a drawing for a prize.  Attendees can talk to the owners about their vehicles, purchasing them, driving and charging them, and the pros and cons of owning them. If possible, there will be demonstrations of charging. There will be drawing for both vehicle owners and attendees. The intention is to further educate staff on EVs in a hands-on way, to see the options available, to answer basic questions, and to help reduce some of the stigma still attached to EVs.

This event will run across various departments within the State of New Mexico, due to their office's physical proximity to EV charging stations:
- Department of Health
- Department of Transportation
- Environment Department
- Economic Development Department
- General Services Department
- Energy Minerals and Natural Resources Department
- Indian Affairs Department
- Tax and Revenue Department

At this point we do not know how many vehicles will be involved, or how many attendees to expect, but know there is a lot of enthusiasm and excitement about the event.
